Club Presidents Charter Night Pictures On Bastille Day, July 14, 1992, Mike Donovan and a few prospective Rotarians met at MacArthur's Vineyard, a restaurant which is now part of the Double Tree Hotel in Palm Beach Gardens. In February of the following year, the Rotary Club of Palm Beach Gardens met at the City Club in North Palm Beach to celebrate its first black tie installation of officers. It was on that night that the club received its Charter from then District Governor Bill Bean. The Rotary Club of North Palm Beach was the sponsoring club and presented the Club with its Rotary Bell. The original Charter Members included Debbie Angelo, Rick Barnes, Charlie Bieser, Kathleen Bordeleau, Dan Carbone, Mike Donovan, Jean Eitel, Bob Hackney, Wayne Katz, Paul Loschiavo, James Meany, Milton Miller, John Niebch, Zee Porter, Sue Torbin, Pam Webber and Tom Whetzel. Since its inception, the Club has presented community service recognition awards and scholarship awards to outstanding high school students, community college students, teachers, firefighters and community leaders. The Club has hosted international exchange students and international study groups, and in 1997 sent one of its own members to South Africa as part of a Rotary exchange group. The Club has sponsored two students from Brazil who came to study for a year in the U.S. The Club boasts of its annual spaghetti dinner the proceeds of which go to Rotary's Camp Florida, a camp for physically, and emotionally challenged children. The Club's newest fund raiser is the selling of Rotary chocolates at various business locations. Never a large club, the Club stands out as a club that cares and give service above self.
