I am a member of the Palm Beach/Flagler Rotary Club. I have learned that
there are several proposals going before RI's Council on Legislation (1)
proposing to eliminate e-clubs altogether or (2) proposing to limit how many
times an e-club can be used as a make-up.
I am strongly AGAINST the proposal to eliminate e-clubs. I am an
active member of my club. I am also a sole practitioner lawyer. Sometimes I am
unable to attend my club's meeting as well as make up at neighboring
clubs. The e-club is a way for me to maintain perfect attendance. In addition,
the e-club offers me new articles and programs, many about RI, which increases
my knowledge and support for Rotary.
As for the proposals limiting the number of times one can use an e-club
as a make-up, why not leave that to the discretion of the individual clubs?
Each club knows its members on a personal level and can better assess if using
an e-club as a make up is proper or excessive under the individual
circumstances.
I have utilized Rotary EClubOne on several occasions as a make-up. I note
that they have several international projects they are involved with. Does it
make sense to eliminate a club that is doing active, positive work for
Rotary?
I appreciate your time reading this. If you are not the appropriate
person to send this to, would you kindly forward my e-mail to that person.
Thank you!
