  1. Legislation to change how often clubs meet:
Proposals: MD Comment: Comments from Others Vote:
    1) To allow clubs to meet either weekly or twice per month

Personally, I think once per week works well and is part of the definition of Rotary.

    2) To allow clubs to meet either weekly or twice per month

    3) To allow clubs to meet either weekly or once every two weeks

    4) To provide that clubs shall meet once every two weeks

    5) To provide that clubs shall meet at least twice per month

  2. Proposals to allow clubs to cancel meeting:

Proposals: MD Comment: Comments from Others Vote:
    8) To allow a club to cancel up to seven regular meetings per year, provided it does not fail to meet for more than six consecutive meetings - increases permissible cancellations from four to six.

The current maximum of 4 per year seems adequate.  I don't like making separate rules for the smaller clubs.

    9) To allow a club to cancel up to eight regular meetings per year, provided it does not fail to meet for more than four consecutive meetings - increases permissible cancellations from four to eight.

    10) To allow clubs with not more than twenty members to cancel up to twelve regular meetings per year - increases permissible cancellations from four to twelve, but only for small clubs.

    11) To provide for a club board to cancel a club meeting for commonly recognized holidays.  This leaves the maximum at 4, but adds wording concerning holidays.

This changes some language, but leaves the rule essentially unchanged.
    12) To provide for clubs to hold meetings to honor RI on its anniversary. Would move the meeting nearest to February 23rd to that date.

This proposal from Columbia is nice, but completely impractical. Most Rotary Clubs would not be able to easily change their meeting date.  I believe the anniversary date is already well recognized and celebrated without this requirement.

  3. Other matters:

Proposals: MD Comment: Comments from Others Vote:
    13) To prohibit the discussion of business matters or private disagreements during club meetings

This proposal comes from a Rotary Club in France.  I don't know why this can't be handled by the President of the Club if it's a real problem.
